His Excellency Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, Eng. Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen Alfadley inaugurated the third Saudi Water Forum 2024 session, themed “Water Sustainability Is Our Responsibility,”.
The Saudi Water Forum 2024, which takes place from April 29 to May 1 in Riyadh, is being organized by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture. The forum will gather local and international experts and specialists to discuss water issues in Saudi Arabia.
In his opening remarks, Alfadley said that Saudi Arabia has launched several regional and global initiatives to address water challenges and explore sustainable solutions in line with Vision 2030. He also noted the leadership's strong support and commitment to overcoming obstacles and challenges in the water sector, which has facilitated the implementation of numerous strategic projects in the Kingdom.
His Excellency Alfadley shed light on the significance of Saudi Arabia's initiatives in the water sector, underscoring their impact on advancing national goals and a pivotal role in water, as the world's largest producer of desalinated water. The efforts include the establishment of the Global Water Organization headquartered in Riyadh. This initiative highlights the Kingdom's pioneer role in supporting global efforts to address water challenges and achieve sustainable development goals. Additionally, Saudi Arabia has organized and hosted several local and international forums and conferences. Riyadh is set to host the 11th World Water Forum in 2027, the largest international gathering in the water sector involving various stakeholders, co-organized.
​In conclusion, Alfadley mentioned that population growth and climate change have all led to increased demand for water. Confronting these rising challenges requires efforts from all to mitigate their impacts to achieve the strategic goals of water security and provide high-quality water sustainably.
