Ministry Overview

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA) is the national entity responsible for leading and sustaining the three vital sectors in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Ministry works through an integrated framework of policies, strategies, and innovative solutions to preserve natural resources, enhance water and food security, improve quality of life, and support sustainable economic growth in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.

    Establishment of the General Directorate of Agriculture under the Ministry of Finance.

    Transformation into the Ministry of Agriculture and Water by Royal Decree.

    Creation of specialized agencies for agricultural and water affairs.

    Division into agricultural affairs and administrative & financial affairs sectors.

    Establishment of the Desalination Affairs Agency.
