Riyadh Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory of the Deputy-Ministry for Animal Resources has been awarded the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 certification and was accredited by the GCC Accreditation Center (GAC).
The certification came after it was confirmed that the Laboratory has met the general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories, passed the comprehensive assessment test, adopted high quality standards and provided high quality veterinary services.
Director-General of the GAC Ahmed Al-Mutairi handed over the accreditation certification to the Deputy Minister for Animal Resources, Dr. Hamad AlBatshan.
This step comes in line with the Ministry's strategy to achieve the the Saudi Vision 2030's objectives, including developing veterinary laboratories, improving quality, performance and operational efficiency of these laboratories to enhance sustainability of the services provided by the Ministry, as well as optimizing the available resources.
Furthermore, this accreditation is an official recognition of the laboratories' efficiency and reliability of tests and test results, which enhances the confidence in detecting zoonotic diseases, and supports the Deputy-Ministry for Animal Resources in controlling and combating animal epidemics.
It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture continues its efforts in addressing epidemic and zoonotic diseases that present a major threat to human and animal health, providing veterinary health care for livestock in the Kingdom, supporting livestock breeders and projects specialized in animal production, and implementing animal diseases and zoonotic diseases control programs.
