HE Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Fadley, the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Chairman of Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) Board of Directors, Chairman of the Supervisory Committee for the Privatization of the Environment, Water and Agriculture Sector, extended thanks to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on the Council of Ministers' approval on the blueprint for the privatization of Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC).
Al-Fadley said that the Cabinet's approval reflects the interest of the Saudi wise leadership to promote the Saudi water sector and improve the standard of the services provided, as well as improve the efficiency and maximize resources and assets utilization, stressing that this approval is another major step forward in restructuring the water sector and enabling the participation of the private sector, in line with the objectives of privatization of SWCC and the Saudi Vision 2030.
Al-Fadley pointed out that following the Council's decision to approve the establishment of a water transportation and technology company, the company will be operating on a commercial basis. Also, it will be responsible for the management and operation of water transportation and storage systems in the Kingdom, and it has the right to establish, develop and operate water transportation systems, as well as managing the research center and the training center.
