Dr. Hamad Abdulaziz AlBatshan,Deputy Minister for Animal Resources, has confirmed the completion of the rehabilitation project of Jeddah Islamic Port Laboratory. The total project cost is 4,938,783 SAR.
The project was carried out within MEWA's effort to develop laboratories and improve the quality of laboratory testing services, in line with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and the National Transformation Program.
AlBatshan pointed out that the laboratory has been equipped with the latest equipment to the highest specifications. And that it has a total area of 850 square meters, noting that it is composed of several sections, including bacteria, viruses, parasites and molecular biology.
AlBatshan said that the laboratory will examine consignments of animal and plant received through the Jeddah Islamic Port for infection prevention and control of epidemic and transpoundary animal diseases. It will also diagnose animal and zoonotic diseases, as well as support the Deputy-Ministry for Animal Resources in disease investigation in Makkah.
In 2018, MEWA succeeded to conduct 95,425 tests at Jeddah Islamic Port Laboratory, and It will continue supporting the laboratories and provide them with highly qualified and experienced specialists, and high-precision devices and equipment.
