The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture had lately imposed fines totaling SR1,760,000 on 28 violators of the Livestock Law and Animal Welfare Act.
The Ministry pointed out that the violations included the sale of local animal products that are unsafe for human consumption, animal abuse, transport of animals suspected to be infected from area to another, unlicensed livestock projects, non-renewal of license or establishment of those projects without reference to the Ministry. Adding that such violations were reported in different regions of the Kingdom as follows; 17 in Makkah, 5 in Riyadh, 3 in Asir, two in Jizan, and one in Qassim.
The Ministry praised the efforts of the veterinary inspectors in the Ministry's branches and offices, and all those who cooperated with the Ministry for reporting animal abuse violations, and called on livestock projects' owners to comply with the rules and regulation issued by the Ministry, which aim to regulate livestock projects and promote animal welfare in the Kingdom.
The Ministry stressed that it would not hesitate to impose the penalties prescribed by the said laws on any person convicted of breaching the laws, calling on all to immediately report suspected animal abuse to 8002470000.
