MEWA Concludes Successful Participation in Saudi Falcons & Hunting Exhibition

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA) successfully increased its participation at the end of the 2nd edition of the Saudi Falcons & Hunting Exhibition, which was held in Riyadh city and organized by the Saudi Falcon Club.

MEWA's participation, which comes as part of its ongoing efforts to control animal diseases and facilitate the movement of the participating falcons through the border crossings and regions of the Kingdom, included examination of 500 samples taken from the falcons participating in the exhibition to assure they are free from avian influenza. In addition to a booth providing vet extension advice and services such as controlling zoonotic diseases and providing veterinary teams and advanced veterinary clinics to monitor health status and facilitate the movement of the falcons, confirming that no cases of epidemic diseases were recorded in the event.

MEWA pointed out that it has succeeded to harness its potential to support this exhibition by providing advanced veterinary clinics, as well as laboratory support for veterinary examinations conducted in its veterinary diagnostic laboratories.

MEWA hailed the fruitful cooperation with the Saudi Falcon Club to establish a joint operations room to monitor the health status of the participating falcons and to take adequate precautions for the safety the birds.
