The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has announced that shrimp fishing on the Arabian Gulf coast of the Kingdom will be banned in February.
Eng. Khalid Al-Shayie, the Director General of Fisheries, said that the ban begins on February 1, 2019 (corresponding to 26/5/1440 H) until July 31, 2019 (corresponding to 28/11/1440 H).
Al-Shayie called on fishermen to meet the scheduled date of fishing, and to comply with the fishing regulations to maintain the sustainability of this wealth which is considered an important economic resource. Stressing that whoever violates the regulations will be subject to legal punishment.
