Saudi Arabia has announced the establishment of an international water research center in partnership between the Ministry of Environment Water and Agriculture, and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST).
The announcement, made under the patronage of His Excellency Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Fadley, Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, during Sustainability Innovation Week at the UNCCD COP16, highlights the establishment of a leading global platform for applied research in water-related fields. This platform will focus on water economics, water security, pollution control, advanced technologies, and digital monitoring systems.
During a high-level panel titled "Sustainable Water Management in Arid and Semi-Arid Regions for Drought and Land Resilience," the Ministry emphasized that the center aims to advance global efforts in tackling water challenges. It serves as a unique scientific platform for academics and experts worldwide, focused on developing sustainable solutions to environmental issues and advancing innovations in water treatment and production.
