The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture has secured an Excellence Certificate at the World Summit on Information Society (WSIS+20) 2025, marking a significant achievement in the E-Agriculture and Artificial Intelligence category.
His Excellency Eng. Mansour Almushaiti, Vice Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, received the award today in Geneva, following the ministry's project advancement to the final stage as one of the top five projects in E-Agriculture and Artificial Intelligence. The Saudi project competed against more than 360 international projects from countries worldwide.
The recognition took place during the high-level WSIS+20 2025 event held in Geneva from July 7-11, 2025, hosted and organized by the International Telecommunication Union and the Swiss Confederation, with participation from UNESCO, the United Nations Development Programme, and UNCTAD. The event represents the largest annual gathering of the global information and communication technology community for development.
The ministry's project was chosen for fulfilling the technical requirements and key criteria that qualified it for the certificate. These included alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the strategic use of AI to deliver sustainable, impactful solutions for beneficiaries.
On this occasion, His Excellency Eng. Mansour Almushaiti, Vice Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, highlighted that receiving this global certificate demonstrates the unwavering support of Saudi Arabia's leadership for the environment, water, and agriculture sectors. He noted that the award reflects the Kingdom's commitment to innovation and sustainable digital transformation, in line with the goals of Vision 2030.
Almushaiti affirmed that the Kingdom has positioned itself among the world's leading nations in embracing innovation and integrating modern technologies across key sectors, especially in the environment, water, and agriculture. He emphasized that this achievement reflects Saudi Arabia's dedication to harnessing digital solutions to promote sustainable environmental development and safeguard natural resources, reinforcing its role as a global model for using technology to benefit both people and the environment.
According to Dr. Abdulhamid Aleliwi, General Supervisor at the Deputy Ministry for IT and Digital Transformation, the award was granted in recognition of the ministry's smart digital system for livestock health. The system delivers an innovative user experience and precise data that supports better decision-making and helps the ministry tackle environmental and agricultural challenges more effectively.
Dr. Al-Aliwi further emphasized the ministry's success in aligning its digital project with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by leveraging modern technologies and interactive digital platforms to provide comprehensive and efficient e-services.
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture ranks among the most recognized government entities in this category, having earned first place in 2019, 2022, and 2023. It has also been awarded more than six international Certificates of Excellence across e-government, agriculture, and environmental fields.
