His Excellency the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Eng. Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen Alfadley signed a cooperation agreement today with the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). The deal aims to bring new technology and sustainable practices to the Kingdom's farming sector to improve food security.
The Ministry is funding the deal with $5 million. The goal is to use CGIAR's technical expertise to train local workers and launch joint projects that protect the environment, sustainability and innovation.
The agreement focuses on high-tech solutions for modern farming by bringing international experts and consultants to the Kingdom to share global knowledge on food security and sustainable agriculture. This cooperation includes publishing scientific studies on sustainable water management and identifying digital tools to make irrigation methods more efficient. Additionally, the groups will develop a technological roadmap to improve agricultural crops and share research facilities and experimental lands to conduct pilot projects.
To ensure these projects are successful, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture will provide the necessary support and facilities. This commitment is designed to promote sustainable agricultural growth and achieve the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
