Annual Shrimp Fishing Ban Begins from February in the Arabian Gulf

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture announced the start of the annual ban on shrimp fishing on the Arabian Gulf coast. The six-month fishing ban starting February 1, 2020 is intended to allow shrimp species to reproduce, conserve shrimp stock and mitigate overfishing, said the Ministry.

The Ministry called on fishermen to meet the scheduled date of fishing, and to comply with the fishing regulations to maintain the sustainability of this national wealth which is considered an important economic resource.

The Ministry confirmed that whoever violates the regulations would be fined SAR10,000.
