His Excellency, Vice Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Eng. Mansour Almushaiti, has launched the Digital Farmer Field Schools (DFFS), a new project designed to modernize agricultural education and extension services through digital technology.
The project aims to transform traditional agricultural training into a comprehensive digital ecosystem, enabling smallholder farmers, women, young people and others involved in the agricultural sector. The initiative is expected to strengthen food security, support sustainable agricultural development and advance the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
The ministry said the initiative is intended to overcome geographical barriers and improve access to agricultural extension services by providing flexible, technology-driven channels for communication and information sharing. The Schools include the development of an interactive digital learning platform and smart applications to promote sustainable farming practices, improve agricultural productivity, and encourage the efficient use of natural resources.
As part of the implementation plan, the project will establish 39 digitally equipped farmer field schools, develop a dedicated digital agricultural extension platform, and deliver both in-person and virtual workshops. It will also foster strategic partnerships with the private sector, international organizations, and universities to develop high-quality digital advisory content that improves farming practices and enhances the Kingdom's food security.
