The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture announced that the fishing of Mackerel will be banned in the Red Sea coast of the Kingdom from 1st of July 2019 until 15th of October 2019.
The Ministry explained that the ban aims to give fish a chance to reproduce, in addition to maintaining their strategic stocks and reducing their depletion by overfishing.
In addition the Ministry called on fishermen to be abided by the scheduled dates of banning, and to comply with the fishing regulations to maintain the sustainability of this national wealth which is considered an important economic resource. Stressing that whoever violates the regulations will be subject to legal punishment and a financial fine up to 10.000 SR.
