Saudi Arabia's central date markets across the Kingdom have begun receiving the first harvests of the 2026 date season. The current season has seen large volumes of early-date harvests arrive at markets, particularly in Riyadh, Madinah, Al-Ahsa, and Al-Qassim, which rank among the Kingdom's leading date-producing areas.
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture highlighted the continued growth of Saudi Arabia's date palm and date production sectors as part of its summer campaign, which aims to promote environmental responsibility, protect natural resources, and support local agricultural products.
According to the ministry, the total number of date palm trees in the Kingdom reached approximately 37.6 million in 2024, reflecting sustained expansion in palm cultivation and continued support for the sector.
The ministry also reported that the number of productive date palm trees rose to more than 32.2 million in 2024. Total date production reached approximately 1.92 million tons during the year, underscoring the sector's ability to maintain sustainable output, meet domestic demand, and support Saudi date exports to international markets.
The figures highlight the strength of Saudi Arabia's agricultural production and the significant support provided to the date palm and dates industry under the Kingdom's Vision 2030 strategy. The initiative seeks to enhance food security, promote sustainable agricultural development, and strengthen the competitiveness of Saudi products in local and global markets.
Saudi Arabia's date palm and dates sector continues to record steady growth, driven by specialized initiatives and programs implemented by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in partnership with relevant stakeholders to further develop the industry's value chain.
