The second session of the Saudi-Niger Joint Commission, held in Niamey, on April 28 and 29. The Saudi delegation was headed by Dr. Suliman Alkhateeb, Deputy Minister for Agriculture at the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, and included several senior officials and representatives from various sectors.
During the meetings, both sides agreed to establish three subcommittees to review the agenda items of the session. These include a committee for legal, political, diplomatic, and security affairs; a committee covering the economy, trade, investment, industry, communications, customs, mining, energy, transport, agriculture, livestock, hydraulics, environment, and sanitation; and a third committee focused on education, health, culture, crafts, tourism, scientific research, social and religious values, population affairs, labor, and national solidarity.
Dr. Suliman Alkhateeb said the meeting reflects the shared interest of Saudi Arabia and Niger in enhancing economic cooperation and trade relations, highlighting promising opportunities for increased collaboration and investment between the two countries, particularly in the commercial, investment, and technical sectors.
He also emphasized the important role of the private sector in driving further investment and benefiting from the opportunities available. In addition, he underlined the need to activate the framework agreement and the work of the joint commission through effective mechanisms and programs to implement the meeting's recommendations, monitor progress, and address any obstacles to ensure continued development of bilateral cooperation in the interests of both nations.
