More than 1.3 million pomegranate trees across Saudi Arabia produce over 39,700 tonnes each year, helping meet rising consumer demand during the summer season.
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture said the strong harvest supports the country's food processing industry while contributing to national food security and self-sufficiency goals.
The figures were announced as part of the ministry's “Sweet in Its Season" campaign, which aims to raise awareness of seasonal fruits and improve the marketing efficiency of local agricultural produce during peak harvest periods.
The ministry described pomegranates as one of the Kingdom's promising economic crops, with cultivation concentrated in the regions of Asir, Makkah, Tabuk, Alqassim and Albaha. The fruit is also grown in varying quantities across other parts of the country.
