The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation to cooperate on environmental protection. This agreement aims to strengthen the bilateral partnership and develop collaboration between the two countries on environmental issues of mutual interest.
The MoU was signed by the Vice Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, His Excellency Eng. Mansour Almushaiti, who is currently visiting Russia as part of a high-level Saudi delegation. It was signed on behalf of the Russian side by the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Alexander Kozlov.
The agreement aims to enhance cooperation between the kingdom and Russia in environmental protection, in line with the regulations and laws of both countries. This will contribute to strengthening joint efforts to preserve natural resources and achieve environmental sustainability.
The MoU also focuses on conserving ecosystems and biodiversity, and exchanging expertise and technical knowledge, which will contribute to developing environmental initiatives and leveraging successful experiences between the two sides.
The memorandum sets out a framework for cooperation based on the exchange of information, expertise, and visits between officials and specialists from both countries. It also organizes joint conferences, seminars, exhibitions, workshops, and training initiatives, alongside the creation of a joint working group to coordinate implementation and expand environmental cooperation during the next phase.
