The President of the World Water Council, Mr. Loïc Fauchon affirmed the Council's commitment to working toward the success of the 11th World Water Forum, which will be in Riyadh in 2027. By strengthening international partnerships, advancing sustainable solutions, and promoting innovation and financing. He emphasized that food, health, the environment, and renewable energy will remain among the Council's key priorities. He added that Saudi Arabia is the world's water capital and recognizing its leading role in advancing the water sector.
During the Second Stakeholders' Consultation Meeting for the 11th World Water Forum, held as part of Saudi Water Week in Jeddah, Fauchon said the consultation meeting represents a key milestone on the road to the Forum. He noted that advancing the global water sector depends on the exchange of expertise and international best practices. He also described Saudi Water Week as a new platform for gathering insights from water experts, specialists, and institutions involved in the water sector at the local, regional, and international levels.
Fauchon highlighted several strategic initiatives launched by the World Water Council, including the establishment of a coalition for water in megacities, the creation of the international center for unconventional water resources, the new deal for sanitation, and a «One Water, One Health» alliance.
These initiatives, he said, are intended to strengthen international cooperation while providing practical mechanisms for the efficient management of water resources.
He further explained that the Council's roadmap is built on dialogue, the exchange of expertise, and leading to informed decision-making. He also called for access to water to be placed at the top of global political and development agendas as a fundamental pillar of global stability and prosperity.
