Waste Management

The National Center for Waste Management works to regulate activities related to the import, export, collection, transportation, sorting, storage, treatment, and final disposal of waste, including aftercare of waste disposal sites, in a manner that ensures enhanced environmental protection and public health.

Hazardous Waste Management

Hazardous waste is waste generated from industrial or non-industrial activities that contains materials with toxic, flammable, reactive, corrosive, or other hazardous properties. These materials include solvents, oils, degreasing agents, acids and alkalis, coloring materials such as inks, sludge, and other industrial materials that may be classified by the National Center for Waste Management as hazardous waste, excluding municipal solid waste.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia places particular emphasis on hazardous waste management through investment in technologies for the treatment and recovery of these materials. This includes recycling tires and electronic waste to transform them into valuable resources used in manufacturing new products, contributing to the promotion of the circular economy. Due to their hazardous chemical and biological nature, such waste requires special handling and disposal procedures to prevent environmental pollution.

Medical Waste Management

Medical waste includes all waste generated by healthcare facilities, both inside and outside hospitals, such as blood and bodily fluids, used medical instruments, and pharmaceutical waste. Due to the environmental and health risks associated with such waste, its management requires the application of the highest safety standards and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
